What Infinitis typically need

Service intervals, no fluff

VQ and VR engines are smooth and long-lived when maintained properly. The CVT on QX60 models needs attention on schedule.

10,000 km · 12 months
Engine oil and filter (5W-30 or 5W-40 full synthetic) · brake inspection · fluid levels · tyre health · battery load test
40,000-60,000 km · CVT/AT fluid
CVT fluid change on QX60, QX50 · 7-speed auto fluid on Q50 and QX70. Infiniti-spec fluid only. Generic ATF on Infiniti CVTs leads to belt slip.
80,000-100,000 km
Timing chain tensioner inspection on VQ35 · spark plugs (iridium, 60-80k) · brake fluid flush · differential fluids on AWD models · coolant flush.
Tyres & Battery
QX models on wide-profile tyres: 40-50k km per set. 12V batteries last 3-4 years in Singapore. Performance-spec batteries on Q60 Red Sport need load-test replacements, not generic substitutes.

Real faults we see

Common Infiniti issues in Singapore

VQ35 timing chain rattle · G37, FX35

Cold-start chain rattle on the VQ35DE is a known issue on higher-mileage cars. Usually the tensioner or guides. Caught early it’s a straightforward repair; ignored, it becomes a full engine-out job.

CVT jerk on acceleration · QX60

The CVT on QX60 models jerks under load when fluid is degraded or levels are low. A drain-and-fill with Infiniti-spec NS-3 fluid resolves most cases. We test before and after to confirm.

VQ oil consumption · older V6 models

Some VQ-series engines use more oil than expected past 80k km. Check the dipstick between services. We perform a consumption test if you’re seeing loss before recommending any internal work.

DAS (Direct Adaptive Steering) fault · Q50

The steer-by-wire system on the Q50 occasionally throws a DAS warning. Usually a software reset resolves it. If it recurs, we inspect the rack module and steering column sensors.

Aircon compressor · older QX models

A/C compressor failure on high-mileage QX50 and QX70 is common after year 10. Gradual cooling loss in traffic is the first sign. We check the whole system before recommending a compressor replacement.

Questions

Infiniti owner questions, answered

Do you service all Infiniti engine types including the VR30DDTT twin-turbo?
Yes. We service the full range: VQ35, VQ37, VR30DDTT, and the 2.0t four-cylinder in the Q30 and QX30. The VR30 twin-turbo in the Q50 Red Sport 400 and Q60 Red Sport 400 has specific oil and service requirements that we follow carefully.
What CVT fluid does the QX60 need?
Nissan/Infiniti NS-3 CVT fluid for the Jatco CVT8 in the QX60. We don’t use generic ATF substitutes on these units. The NS-3 spec is specific to the friction characteristics of the belt and pulley system in this transmission.
Will servicing at The Right Workshop void my Infiniti warranty?
No. Under Singapore’s Block Exemption Order, independent workshop servicing with correct fluids and OEM-equivalent parts doesn’t void your warranty. We document everything and can provide written confirmation.
My Infiniti is a parallel import. Do you service it?
Yes. We cover all Infiniti variants including parallel imports and JDM-spec models. We confirm your exact spec before work starts to use the right fluids, parts, and service schedule.
How long does a standard Infiniti service take?
Standard oil-and-filter service takes about 1.5 hours for a V6 model. A full service with transmission fluid and inspection runs 2.5-3.5 hours. We confirm timing when you book.
