What Hondas typically need

Service intervals, no fluff

Hondas are straightforward. Stay on top of the basics and they run past 200,000 km without drama.

10,000 km · 12 months
Engine oil and filter · fluid top-ups · brake inspection · tyre health · battery load test · aircon check
40,000-60,000 km
Cabin and engine air filter · iridium spark plugs · brake fluid flush · CVT fluid change. Honda CVTs need HCF-2 spec fluid. Generic ATF damages them.
Aircon
Compressor wear shows up around year 8-10. First sign is weak cooling in traffic when the engine’s hot. Don’t ignore it.
Tyres & Battery
50-70k km per set with rotation. Batteries last 3-4 years in Singapore heat, sometimes less if parked in the open overnight.

Real faults we see

Common Honda issues in Singapore

CVT shudder · Vezel, Jazz, City, HR-V

Low-speed shudder at 60-80k km from neglected CVT fluid. Fix is a drain-and-fill twice over with genuine Honda CVTF. One flush often isn’t enough if the fluid’s been in there a long time.

Vezel Hybrid battery degradation

IMA pack loses capacity faster in Singapore heat. We do a full health check, isolate the weak modules, and quote honestly on rebuild vs. replace. We tell you the real range upfront.

Civic FC/FK rear suspension knocks

Rear stabiliser links and bushings wear early on our roads. Easy fix, common part. Often misdiagnosed at the agent as something more expensive.

Aircon compressor wear

Gradual cooling loss after year 8 is typical. We check the whole system before recommending a compressor replacement, because sometimes it’s just a leaking seal.

Oil leaks on older i-VTEC engines

Cam seal and rocker cover gasket weep on high-mileage Civics and Accords. Not urgent, but worth sorting before the oil reaches the exhaust.

Questions

Honda owner questions, answered

Do you service Honda hybrids like the Vezel Hybrid, Accord Hybrid, and Freed Hybrid?
Yes. Our technicians cover the petrol side and the hybrid system: battery health check, inverter coolant, and high-voltage safety. We follow Honda’s hybrid maintenance intervals, not a generic schedule.
What CVT fluid do you use for Honda?
Honda-specification CVT fluid. HCF-2 for most models from 2012 onward, CVT-F for older models. Generic ATF is not a substitute and can damage the CVT over time.
Will servicing at The Right Workshop void my Honda warranty?
No. Under Singapore’s Block Exemption Order, an independent workshop using the correct oil grade and OEM-equivalent parts doesn’t affect your warranty. We put it in writing if you need it.
My Vezel is a parallel import. Do you still service it?
Yes. Parallel imports, JDM-spec cars, and authorised imports all come through our workshop. We check the spec before starting work so we use the right fluids and parts for your exact model.
How long does a standard Honda service take?
A standard oil-and-filter service takes about 1-1.5 hours. A more thorough inspection with fluid changes runs 2-3 hours. We’ll tell you the expected time when you book so you can plan around it.
