What Citroens typically need in Singapore

Honest guidance, not upsells

Citroens share PSA group engines and transmissions with Peugeot. That means the 1.2 PureTech wet timing belt is the single most important item to keep on top of. The rest of the maintenance picture is straightforward:

Every 10,000 km or 12 months: full synthetic oil, OEM filter, fluid top-ups, brakes, tyres, battery, aircon check. See our servicing page.

1.2 PureTech wet timing belt is the headline: the 1.2 PureTech (EB2) on the C3, C4 Cactus, C4, C5 Aircross, and Grand C4 SpaceTourer uses an oil-bathed timing belt. Belt life 6 years or 100,000 km in spec; in SG heat we inspect from 60,000 km. A shed belt clogs the oil pump and destroys the engine.

Avoid the ETG6 automated manual: some early C3 / C4 Cactus came with the ETG6 (automated manual) which is notorious for shudder and lag. The EAT6 / EAT8 (proper torque-converter auto) is the box you want; we service either.

Every 40,000 to 60,000 km: cabin and engine air filters, spark plugs, brake fluid, EAT6 / EAT8 fluid service. Engine and gearbox page.

Aircon, suspension, and battery: Citroen suspension is soft by design and bushings wear faster than firmer European cars. Aircon evaporator service every 3 to 4 years in SG humidity. Aircon guide and tyres and battery guide.

Citroen owner questions, answered

Should I be worried about the 1.2 PureTech wet belt?

Be aware, not worried. We inspect the wet belt and oil pump pickup at every major service from 60,000 km onward. Planned replacement at 80,000 to 100,000 km with PSA-spec oil costs a fraction of a destroyed engine.

What oil does my Citroen use?

1.2 PureTech uses 0W-30 full synthetic to PSA B71 2312 spec. This is non-negotiable on the wet-belt engine. Older 1.6 VTi uses 5W-30. We carry the correct PSA-spec grades.

My C3 / C4 Cactus auto is jerky and slow. Is it the gearbox?

If your car has the ETG6 automated manual, it is, and that is unfortunately how the box behaves. We can service the unit and tune the calibration. If it is the EAT6 torque-converter auto, a proper fluid service usually fixes the issue.

Will servicing here void my Citroen warranty?

No. Singapore’s Block Exemption Order protects you. We use PSA-spec fluids, OEM-equivalent parts, and stamp your service book.

How is parts availability for Citroen in Singapore?

Good. Citroen shares parts with Peugeot, so genuine and OEM-equivalent are widely available through Wearnes and OEM channels with 2 to 5 day lead times.
