Roads around Marina Centre and the Padang will close from 12.01am on 7 October 2026 to make way for Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix infrastructure, with full reopening expected by 5.30am on 13 October 2026. LTA is strongly encouraging all road users and ticket holders to take public transport across the seven-day closure window, from 7 to 13 October.
What the road closure covers
The affected area centres on Marina Centre and the Padang, the same circuit footprint used in previous editions of the race. Closures begin on 7 October to allow race infrastructure to go up, and roads will reopen progressively after the final race on 11 October as crews dismantle the circuit.
Not every road stays shut around the clock. LTA has carved out peak-hour windows on several corridors so commuters can still get in and out of the CBD. On 7 and 8 October, between 5.30am and 10.00am, the following routes will be open:
- Collyer Quay to St. Andrew’s Road to Stamford Road, towards Orchard Road
- Nicoll Highway to Esplanade Drive and Stamford Road, towards Marina Boulevard
- Republic Boulevard to Raffles Avenue to Bayfront Avenue
On 9 October, the first day of track action, the morning window from 5.30am to 10.00am covers Collyer Quay to St. Andrew’s Road to Stamford Road, and Nicoll Highway to Esplanade Drive and Stamford Road. The Republic Boulevard corridor drops off the list from that point.
On 12 October, as the circuit comes down, two windows apply. Morning hours from 5.30am to 10.00am open Nicoll Highway to Esplanade Drive, Bras Basah Road to Nicoll Highway to Esplanade Drive towards the East Coast Parkway, Bras Basah Road to Raffles Boulevard to Republic Boulevard towards Marina Boulevard, and Raffles Boulevard to Temasek Avenue to Bayfront Avenue. An evening window from 5.00pm to 8.30pm reopens Nicoll Highway to Esplanade Drive and Stamford Road, Bras Basah Road to Nicoll Highway to Esplanade Drive, Esplanade Drive to Nicoll Highway and Stamford Road, Bras Basah Road to Raffles Boulevard to Republic Boulevard, Bayfront Avenue to Temasek Avenue to Raffles Boulevard, and Raffles Boulevard to Temasek Avenue to Bayfront Avenue.
What this might mean for drivers
One read of the schedule is that the peak-hour corridors offer a workable route for commuters who genuinely need to drive, but the windows are narrow and the surrounding roads will be congested. Missing the 10.00am cutoff on a race-weekend morning could mean a significantly longer detour around the closed zone.
Drivers heading to or from the CBD between 7 and 13 October might want to plan routes that avoid Raffles Avenue, Esplanade Drive, and the Padang area entirely outside the permitted windows. The Marina Bay area is already one of Singapore’s busier ERP zones, so the added congestion from race traffic could push travel times up considerably even on roads that technically remain open.

What to watch before October
LTA typically updates the OneMotoring portal with any adjustments to the closure schedule as the event approaches. The peak-hour corridor list has shifted slightly between editions in past years, so the exact timings above could be refined before race week.
Ticket holders attending on 9, 10, or 11 October should note that public transport will be the most predictable option. MRT services on the Circle Line and Downtown Line both serve the Marina Bay area, and LTA has confirmed extended train hours on 9, 10 and 11 October: last North-South and East-West Line trains leave City Hall at 12.30am on 9 and 10 October and 12.45am on 11 October, with other lines extended too. Motorists who must reach Marina Centre can still get in via Rochor Road to Temasek Boulevard throughout the closure.
For drivers who park near the CBD on weekdays, it may be worth checking whether your usual carpark falls within the closed zone. Some carparks in the Marina Centre area become inaccessible once the barriers go up on 7 October.
