Our honest scope on Tesla

What we service on Tesla cars

Tesla’s lineup in Singapore is fully electric (Model 3, Model Y, Model S, Model X). On a Tesla our scope today is limited to non-HV work: tyres and wheel alignment, 12V auxiliary battery, brake-pad inspection, cabin filter, wiper blades, body and paint, accident repair, and pre-purchase inspection for buyers checking a used Tesla. For the high-voltage traction battery, drive unit, inverter, charging port or vehicle software, we refer you to Tesla Service or a specialist EV workshop. We will tell you straight if a job needs to go elsewhere.

Tesla-specific things owners ask us about

Common Tesla owner concerns we can help with

12V parasitic draw test: if your Tesla is going flat after sitting a few days, we can do a parasitic draw test on the 12V auxiliary system to flag any aftermarket accessory or 12V issue. Anything pointing to the high-voltage pack or thermal management we refer to Tesla Service.

12V auxiliary battery replacement: the small 12V is the single most common Tesla item that strands owners. Lead-acid versions on older Model 3 and S/X tend to give up at 3 to 4 years; newer cars use a Li-ion 16V auxiliary that also wears. We replace the 12V with the correct spec for your year.

Suspension control arms and upper-link clunk: 2018 to 2020 Model 3 has a known TSB for upper-control-arm clunks. Front lower control-arm bushing wear by 60,000 km on Singapore roads with speed humps and uneven surfaces. We replace with OEM-spec arms and the steering tightens up.

Brake calliper service: because Tesla drivers rely heavily on regenerative braking, the friction brakes are rarely worked. In our humidity, calliper sliders, pads and rotors corrode. We do an annual mechanical brake service: clean sliders, lubricate, light hone of rotor faces, refit or replace pads.

Service interval (non-HV scope): brake fluid every 2 years, 12V every 3 to 4 years, tyre rotation every 10,000 km, alignment annually. For the HV traction battery, drive unit, inverter, charging port and vehicle software, follow Tesla’s own service schedule.

Where we sit: for non-HV maintenance on a Tesla we offer a transparent, fair price and will tell you straight when something is outside our scope. Welcome to Autobay @ Kaki Bukit, #02-61.

Tesla owner questions, answered

Will independent servicing void my Tesla warranty?

No. Singapore’s Block Exemption Order applies. Routine non-HV servicing such as tyres, alignment, cabin filter and 12V battery at a competent independent workshop does not void your vehicle or battery warranty. We keep proper service records.

Do you service Tesla high-voltage systems?

No. We do not have EV/HV-trained technicians at this time, so we do not service the high-voltage traction battery, drive unit, inverter, charging port or vehicle software. We focus on non-HV items: tyres, wheel alignment, 12V auxiliary battery, brake-pad inspection, cabin filter, wiper blades, body and paint, accident repair, and pre-purchase inspection. For HV work we refer you to Tesla Service or a specialist EV workshop.

Do Teslas really not need oil changes?

A Tesla has no engine oil. The drive unit uses a sealed reduction gear with its own gear oil; for that and any other drive-unit work, follow Tesla’s schedule at Tesla Service. Brake fluid (which we can do) still needs replacement every 2 years.

My Tesla loses range parked. Should I worry?

Usually it is normal: cabin overheat protection, sentry mode, and thermal management pull a small percentage per day in our heat. If you suspect an aftermarket accessory or 12V drain, we can do a parasitic draw test on the 12V side. Anything pointing to the high-voltage pack we refer to Tesla Service.

My Model 3 12V died and the car would not open. Is this common?

Yes, very. The small 12V is the most common Tesla service item. We replace with the correct lead-acid AGM (older cars) or Li-ion 16V (newer Model 3 and Y) and test parasitic draw at the same time.
