What Porsches typically need

Service intervals, no fluff

Porsches are precision machines and they reward strict adherence to service intervals. Skipping PDK fluid or using wrong oil on the flat-6 is where independent workshop shortcuts get expensive.

15,000-20,000 km · 12 months
Engine oil and filter (Porsche-spec 0W-40 or 5W-50 depending on model) · brake inspection · fluid top-ups · tyre check · battery health
40,000-60,000 km · PDK
PDK dual-clutch fluid change. Porsche specifies 70,000 km but Singapore heat degrades fluid faster. We do it at 40-60k. Hesitation and hunting at low speed is the sign of overdue fluid.
60,000 km
Spark plugs · cabin and engine air filters · brake fluid flush · IMS bearing inspection on 996/997 flat-6 · coolant flush
Tyres & Battery
Porsche factory tyres are N-rated or Y-rated performance compounds. Replace in pairs minimum. Track day Porsches need brake fluid flush before every session.

Real faults we see

Common Porsche issues in Singapore

IMS bearing · 996/997 flat-6 (1997-2008)

The intermediate shaft bearing on early 911s is the most discussed Porsche issue. Failure destroys the engine. Low-failure-rate variants exist but inspection at 80k km and a bearing replacement at 100k is the safest approach on high-mileage cars.

Coolant pipe failure · Cayenne V8 (2002-2010)

The plastic coolant pipes on first-generation V8 Cayenne develop brittle cracks with age. Low coolant with no visible puddle is the symptom. Proactive replacement before the pipe fails roadside.

PDK clutch shudder

PDK dual-clutch shudder at low speed is usually fluid degradation. A proper PDK fluid change with Porsche-spec fluid resolves it in most cases. If it persists after fluid change, clutch pack inspection is next.

RMS rear main seal oil weep · older flat-6

Rear main seal oil weep is common on older 911s and Boxsters past 100k km. Repair requires engine removal. We quote on full scope before proceeding.

Cayenne PDCC active roll stabiliser fault

The Cayenne PDCC hydraulic active suspension can develop faults from solenoid wear and fluid degradation. We scan the PDCC module and trace the fault before recommending parts.

Questions

Porsche owner questions, answered

Do you service 911 GT3 and Turbo variants?
Yes. We service the full 911 range including GT3, GT3 RS, Turbo, and Turbo S. These variants have different oil specs, shorter service intervals, and specific inspection requirements. We confirm the exact schedule for your build.
What oil does a Porsche flat-6 need?
Porsche recommends 0W-40 or 5W-50 Mobil 1 depending on the generation. GT3 RS and Turbo S engines have specific viscosity requirements. We confirm before every service.
Will servicing at The Right Workshop void my Porsche warranty?
No. Under Singapore’s Block Exemption Order, independent servicing with correct fluids and OEM-equivalent parts doesn’t void your warranty.
Do you service the Porsche Taycan EV?
Yes for maintenance outside the high-voltage traction battery: 12V systems, brakes, tyres, thermal management, and suspension. For traction battery faults, we diagnose and advise on next steps.
How long does a Porsche service take?
911 oil-and-filter service 1.5-2 hours. Full service with PDK fluid and inspection 3-4 hours.
